‘Crafting Modernism: Midcentury American Art and Design’ at New York’s Museum of Art sand Design showcases the bold new directions taken in media and aesthetics during America’s postwar years. From 12 October to 15 January 2012 MAD will be exhibiting furniture, textiles, tableware, ceramics, glass, jewelry, sculpture and painting by names such as Jack Lenor Larsen, Sheila Hicks, Charles and Ray Eames, Alexander Calder and Knoll, illustrating how the period between 1945 and 1969 proved a key transitional era for American craft and design.
