Clerkenwell Design Week 2016

Clerkenwell Design Week opens next Tuesday 24 May. The three-day event based in East Central London, the heart of London’s design showrooms and offices, has become an increasingly important design show for London and beyond. The programme has increased considerably over the past six years and now features seven large exhibition spaces, 78 showroom displays, a series of fringe events, 3 days of talks, 10 CDW presents design projects and street spectacles plus local architecture, branding agency and craft studio practices throwing open their doors to the festival’s visitors and host workshops, displays and installations.

Moroso launches Daniel Libeskind’s Gemma seating system at the Moroso showroom, 7-15 Rosebery Avenue

Of the seven exhibitions Design Fields at Spa Fields, Northampton Road EC1R 0DF will showcase leading furniture, lighting and product design from around the world. Platform in the subterranean House of Detention on Sans Walk focuses on exciting up-and-coming design talent from around the world. Interior textile designer Daisy Ellis and knitwear for interiors brand Leiz will be part of the show. Additions in the Garden of St James, on St James Walk, is dedicated to small design pieces and interior accessories. N and N fabrics will be showing as will online design gallery Imbyou, which will feature textiles by Ekta Kaul. Two new shows for CDW in 2016 – both based in St James’s Church Garden – are Project, focusing on furniture, lighting and contemporary product design and British Collection which will feature some of the UK’s most exciting homegrown talent. Detail at The Order of St. John reflects principles of fine craftsmanship and high glamour, showcasing the best and most prestigious names in the luxury interiors world. Here you will see high-end brands Tania Johnson, Ptolemy Mann, Dedar and Zimmer + Rohde. Finally Icon House of Culture will be located in an new venue in 2016, the nightclub Fabric. The show is a curated selection of top international brands.

In terms of showrooms don’t miss Bolon showing their new versatile jacquard collection Bolon By You, ege presenting the new Industrial Landscape collection by British designer Tom Dixon, Helen Yardley and Kasthall with Sinclair Till at Craft Central. Moroso will be launching the Gemma seating system by architect Daniel Libeskind.
