The exhibition Current Exchanges at Dovecot Studios in Edinburgh celebrates the connections between the Australian Tapestry Workshop in Melbourne, and Dovecot by bringing together recent tapestry work from both institutions.

Although geographically miles apart, both studios share a similar philosophy of working closely with contemporary artists to produce tapestries at the cutting edge of artistic practice. The connection between the studios dates back to the founding of the Australian Tapestry Workshop in 1976 when Dovecot’s Artistic Director, Archie Brennan, advised on the structure and feasibility of ATW. Since then the exchanges of weavers and ideas have continued.

Artists on show include Nusra Latif Queneshi, Alan Davie, Anamarari Brown, William Crozier, Brent Harris, Peter Saville, Adrian Wiszniewski, Sangeeta Sandrasegar and Arlene TextaQueen.

The show ends on 27 September 2014.
