The 16th edition of DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR happens soon in Shanghai 25 – 27 March 2014 and this year introduces the World of Handmade Carpets. For the first time, hall W5 will contain handmade products only and will merge rugs, education, demonstrations of techniques and historical and cultural influences to create an educational buying experience. COVER will be in attendance and report back on the latest flooring trends seen there.
Following an encouraging response from Domotex Hannover in January 2014, some companies familiar from the European show will be exhibiting here too. Jaipur will take their Chaos Theory collection designed by Kavi to China to be unveiled to a new audience.
Paulig Teppiche are to show their handwoven collection in neutral colours in the German pavilion and see Domotex Asia as an ideal event to interact with the Chinese market who they have been working with since 2008 and to meet other existing international Asian clients.
Angelo Rugs will present the Sydney Handknotted collection as well as their full range of wall to wall and bespoke rugs. Included in this will be the re-released Sur Pointe and Quadrature, two rugs designed by the celebrated, fellow Belgian designer, Jules Wabbes (1919 – 1974). These geometric mid 20th century designs in neutral colours fit thoroughly with contemporary interior minimalism.
Green Step Environmental Awards will be awarded to exhibitors who demonstrate sustainable credentials to encourage Asian flooring companies to invest in green practice.
