Luxury Brands 2018 – Introducing: Art Resources, Tufenkian, Samad and Wool and Silk

The second edition of COVER and Domotex asia/CHINAFLOOR’s curated Luxury Brands exhibition is taking place at DACF in Shanghai on 20-22 March 2018.
Each week leading up to the show we will focus on four of the 16 high-end exhibiting companies. This week we look at four more US brands that will be coming to Shanghai in March.


Art Resources


With headquarters in Los Angeles and a showroom in New Jersey and High Point, Art Resources is an award-winning US-based firm that has been producing high-quality rugs for over thirty years. With a vast design inventory for clients to work from, the company is well known for the variety of its production, ranging from one-of-a-kind rugs to programmed lines in either traditional, transitional or contemporary style. The company won a coveted 2018 Carpet Design Award at Domotex Hannover for the impressive Blue Star.

James Tufenkian, founder and current head of the highly-respected New York-based rug company Tufenkian, was instrumental in revolutionising the global rug business three decades ago. Today the company continues to be one of the go-to rug brands for international interior designers. High levels of craftsmanship are invested in every Tufenkian product, across a wide inventory of designs. With seven showrooms across the US and two in Europe, this company is big news in the handmade rug sector.

With a history of developing popular contemporary rug lines with great decorative appeal, such as the stunning Shibori Collection, Samad from New Jersey was founded by brothers David and Malcolm Samad in New York City in 1985. The respected family rm is now based in New Jersey with offices in the UK and Indi and focuses its energies on being a global innovator. Samad’s rug collections cover a wide array of price points and design types, ranging from traditional to transitional and through to contemporary.

New Jersey-based Wool& Silk Rugs is run by artist Erbil Tezcan, who creates rugs that are works of art
for the floor. The subject matter ranges from abstract to figurative and features highly emotive colour. Proud winner of seven international Carpet Design Awards and a German Design Award, Tezcan is known for designs that exhibit an exceptional colour sense and perfectly reflect his passion for rugs. The company’s unique approach to design, in-depth knowledge of the weaving industry and unstinting search for high quality is second to none.
