Milan’s giant furniture fair, and the surrounding design shows across the city, are regarded by many as the most important design events in the world today. This year Salone del Mobile takes place on 4-9 April.

Milanese rug brand cc-tapis will return to Salone while also holding another event/opening celebration in the company’s new showroom on Piazza Santo Stefano, near Duomo. The brand will be showing new rugs by Patricia Urquiola, Martino Gamper, Faye Toogood and Mae Engelgeer (see Features COVER 46). COVER magazine will be given away at both venues. Other brands showing at Salone will be Sirecom, Kvadrat, Papilio, Bolon, Sahrai and Illulian.

In the centre of town in the Brera district, Golran has a slick new showroom and Italian company Nodus will delight with a new collection of innovative carpet designs. The Alberto Levi Gallery on Via San Maurilio will be holding a show of South American fique flatweaves entitled ‘Heavy Metal’.

Ventura Lambrate is the place to see young, upcoming designers and Berlin-based designer Salem van der Swaagh will be exhibiting a new range of rugs in the area (see Design Notes COVER 46). Rossana Orlandi’s showroom on Via Matteo Bandello is a great place to hang out and Mariantonia Urru’s Sardinian flatweaves will be on display.
