If you missed the exhibition of Nigel Atkinson’s beautiful textiles at the Joss Graham gallery in London last week then here a few highlights from the show. During the London Design Festival the gallery in Ecclestone Street hosted new works from artist and textile designer Nigel Atkinson. A new series of Atkinson’s sculptural wall panels explored the effects of light on intricate hand embroidered and woven textiles, which were handmade in Assam and Bengal, India. The exhibition also introduced the first textile pieces Atkinson has produced in collaboration with Rekiseisha, a historical maker of metal leaf surfaces based in Hiroshima. Metal leaf is painstakingly applied to the 3D relief surfaces of the textiles and 3 long textiles hung in the gallery window to catch the eyes of passers by. Lastly the show also featured a new collection of luxurious hand embroidered outdoor fabrics,  a collaboration with Extex fabrics.
