Blithfield Rossmore lampshades, Folk stool, Folk mirror and ‘Tree of life’ appliqued headboard by Kit Kemp for Fine Cell Work at Ham Yard Hotel, London
Next year, Fine Cell Work – the charity and social enterprise that gets UK prisoners stitching, will celebrate their 20th anniversary. This week their SS16 collection launched in the topfloor suite at the super chic Ham Yard Hotel in Soho (as featured in COVER 36).
Developed by Kit Kemp and the late Melissa Wyndham, the collection draws inspiration from antique textiles and consists of needlepoint/Perspex trays, an embroidered linen mirror frame and footstool, cushions and lampshades made from embellished Blithfield fabrics and the appliqued Tree of Life headboard and a related cushion which both have a fun folk-art feel.

Embroidered Blithfield Linwood
Kemp is Design Director and co-owner of Firmadale Hotels and the new collection she has orchestrated blends seamlessly into the luxury boutique environment, being at once eye-catching and understated. The upholstered pieces have allowed Fine Cell Work’s volunteers to introduce a wider variety of skills to their training programme which currently operates in 30 prisons across the UK.
