The finalists for the thirteenth Carpet Design Awards have been selected and here we reveal the 24 designs from the sixteen shortlisted brands that will be on show in Hall 9 at Domotex.
The Carpet Design Awards, organised by Domotex in partnership with COVER and HALI magazines, returns to the Hannover show for its thirteenth edition in January 2018. A jury made up of experts from the design professions and the carpet industry has selected three exclusive carpets in each of eight categories, out of a total of 265 entries from 16 countries. A Carpet Design Award is a highly-respected accolade and the entries and nominations continue to be an important reflection of current and upcoming industry trends. Two new categories appear on the agenda this year: Best Interior, for a high-end custom project or rug installation, and Best Communication, for a successful marketing or branding campaign.
From New York, the president of Warp & Weft, Michael Mandapati, takes over as chairman of the jury for 2018, while three of last year’s panel remain: German carpet expert and buyer Wilhard Kühne, Hamburg-based architect-designer Hadi Tehrani, and Vanessa Brady, interior designer and founder of the Society of British and International Design.
The three finalists in each category will be on display in the new setting of Hall 9 throughout Domotex. Thirteen could prove to be a lucky number for some of the nominated exhibitors, as the winners of the thirteenth edition of the Carpet Design Awards will be announced at a special ceremony held at Domotex on Saturday 13 January 2018.
