In case you haven’t yet booked your tickets to The Rug Show New York, here are several reasons not to miss the show.

The range of rug companies is vast: from Rug & KilimTamarianStark StudioBokara and New Moon to HOCKetenciFrench AccentsZollanvari and Sahar. Turkish brand Kirkit returns to the 2018 show as does Berlin’s own Jürgen Dahlmanns with his brand Rug StarYerra will bring hides while Sumaq offer the softest alpaca and do visit PauligMomeniAsha and Tufenkian to name but a few! From pile rugs to kilims, traditional to contemporary designs, The Rug Show has it covered!

New exhibitors to the show include Spanish brand Rica Basagoiti, a company with branches in Madrid and Bilbao. Founded in 1954, Rica Basagoiti’s collections include modern and traditional designs while the Alcaraz collection utilises the formerly extinct Spanish knot of Hispano-Arab carpets of the 16thand 17thcenturies. London-based brand Luke Irwin will be represented at the show by new company JTN Rugs & Home, headed by Sanjay Purohit formerly of Zollanvari.

Focusing on the topics of Mid-Century Modern and Sustainable Luxury, the COVER talks on Designer Day (Monday 27th) are becoming popular so do sign up now. There will be cocktails and snacks between the two-hour-long panel discussions, which are set for 1.30pm and 3.30pm. Speakers include interior designer Brock ForsblomRhonda Eleish and Edie van Breems, President of ASID NY Metro Björn Björnsson and Kathleen Jordan from Gensler. Both talks will be moderated by COVER Editor Lucy Upward.

For tips on buying and rug trends, the Under the Rug hour-long tours will be held on Saturday and Sunday at 2pm by Rug Insider Editor Michael Christie, a.k.a. The Ruggist. Sign up online!

For 2018, The Rug Show New York and COVER magazine will present ‘Spaces’, offering two unique vignette displays featuring high-end furniture alongside beautiful rugs. The first interior setting will include furniture by Brooklyn brand Edtoba with rugs by Stark Studio Rugs while French Accents collaborates with cutting-edge brand Moooi for the second. Expect to see an innovative interior design.
