British Textile Biennial

October 25, 2021

Exhibitions and installations across east Lancashire tell the story of textiles

This October, the 2021 British Textile Biennial focuses on the global nature of textiles, with new artist commissions, exhibitions and performances presented against the backdrop of the cotton industry in Pennine Lancashire. Turner Prize-winning Lubaina Himid presents new work about the trading relationship between Britain, Europe and Africa. James Fox’s work looks at the Lancashire loombreaker riots of 1826.

Visit the Biennial at venues across east Lancashire until 31 October 2021. The majority of the exhibitions are free and no booking is required. Click here to view the events guide.
