COVER Connect New York preview part 1

The boutique show for leading high-end rug brands—hosted by COVER magazine—returns at a larger Manhattan venue for 2022, offering an even greater range of handmade rugs to discerning retailers and professionals. Happening at the Metropolitan Pavilion, 11-13 September, registration is open now. We will be highlighting some of the exciting launches and developments to expect from the 22 dynamic brands that have been selected to exhibit in this series of online previews.

Anadol Rug Co. can’t wait to reconnect with the rug community at COVER Connect. The Atlanta-based rug brand is well-known and well-respected for the beauty and artistry of its authentic Turkish Angora Ushak rugs. Anadol constantly strives to stay true to its founding principles, to seek out the best craftsmanship and methods of manufacturing for the most innovative and beautiful rugs.

‘At COVER Connect we will be highlighting the Adara collection in sisals and our machine made flatwoven wool rugs from Europe. We plan to highlight the flexibility of our line, that can make everything from stair runners to rugs as large as 16’5” wide, all produced from US broadloom stock.’

Design Materials Inc.

Design Materials Inc. is an importer, distributor and workshop focused on flatwoven wool and sisal rugs. With distribution throughout the US plus in Canada and the Netherlands, the Kansas City-based brand is all about custom style. Working on a ‘Rugs by the Foot’ pricing system, DMI is keen to promote the great flexibility and texture range of the company lines, a portion of which will be shown at Cover Connect.


Supersoft Luxury — New Qualities

‘In September we will be featuring some new 100% superfine alpaca yarns never seen before in the rug industry! The inspiration in our new collection is all about natural super soft fibres that create an organic luxury collection. We will once again be showing buyers that handmade rugs in Peru are like nothing made elsewhere in the world. Even the wool feels butter smooth and soft.’

Sumaq Alpaca Rugs

Based out of Montréal and Vancouver, Sumaq Alpaca Rugs offers the most luxurious of alpaca floor coverings handmade by local artisans in Peru and South America. Super-softness is the aim of the game while the company also strives to support local industry and keep Peruvian traditions alive. The brand is keen to meet those who have not yet had a chance to touch the super soft alpaca rugs and experience true luxury under foot.

‘The focus of our 2022 display will be the After Hours and Water Wonder collection which features both wool and silk pieces and 100% silk rugs. After Hours is an abstract collection inspired by mixed media art while the Water Wonder collection replicates the beauty, impact and wonder of natural bodies of water. We are always trying to deepen our themes of life in colour and expressing the natural world.’
