Five New Rugs for Autumn

September 30, 2022

Autumn is a great time for viewing new rug releases. Here COVER presents five new rugs for the next season

Autumn (or Fall for Americans) is a great time for viewing new rug releases. Our calendars are full of design events and companies are keen to show off their latest products. Here are five new rugs for the next season, from exuberant florals and checkboards to antique interpretations and neutral textures.

Wendy Morrison

Morrison‘s latest hand-knotted design One Hundred Birds One Hundred Flowers is inspired by a spectacular pair of hanging scrolls by Japanese painter Suzuki Kiitsu (1796-1858). The wool and silk design depicts animals and birds, which in the tradition of China’s Ming Dynasty represent divinity, rank, power and beauty. The vivid colours against a neutral background create a delicate design.

Pure Salt Interiors x Momeni

Launching at High Point in October 2022, the Pure Salt for Momeni Line was developed over two years with Pure Salt founders Aly Morford and Leigh Lincoln alongside the design team at Momeni. The collection focuses on natural fibres such as jute and neutral tones in flatweave and hand-knotted rugs. Leigh Lincoln, Co-founder, Pure Salt comments: ‘We set out to create this line of rugs with Momeni to fill a gap for our clients and customers—to have rugs that feel as good as they look, using unique methods and materials for a one-of-a-kind design. From hand-knotted rugs with an aged look that will only get better over time, to super soft Jutes, to classic linens with statement stitching, all the rugs in our collection are created with incredible care and attention to detail, ready to be placed in every room of your home for a look you’ll love for years to home.”

Kangan Arora x Floor Story

Arora‘s latest two-part collection for Floor Story launched last week during the London Design Festival. The ten rugs of Cosmic Check and Falling Stars feature meticulously thought-out patterns and colour combinations. Available in three different constructs (hand-knotted, tufted and handwoven), the designs are influenced by architectural shapes and references, from both Indian and Japanese ancient traditions. The lively Yantra is hand-knotted in New Zealand wool.

Zoe Bios Creative x Jaipur Living

Jaipur Living‘s new Honeycomb rug collection with Los Angeles-based art house Zoe Bios Creative is a homage to the rich colours and transformational shapes of nature. Zoe Bios Creative debuted its inaugural rug capsule collection with Jaipur Living during the spring 2018 High Point Market. With four new designs being introduced in the Honeycomb collection, these hand-tufted rugs will be showing at High Point in October 2022.

Battilossi

This Venta design is from Battilossi‘s new Kalash collection, which was on show at COVER Connect New York earlier this month. The three Kalash designs—Venta, Joya and Kara—combine the most beautiful aspects of classical Verneh carpets with the brand’s complex contemporary weaving techniques. They are flatwoven with soumak embroidery, all in 100% Ghazni wool. Venta is available in six colourways, including Enji shown here, which is shades of reds and purples.
