If anyone doesn’t yet know about the textiles of Spanish designer Rocio Moreno then you should read on… Her high quality Ottoman-inspired fabrics are truly inspiring and refreshing.
Surprisingly Rocio Moreno’s history of textile production is a short one, having launched her first fabric collection in 2008. Previously she ran La Meridiana, an interior design shop full of exotic furniture and ethnic fabrics, which she opened 15 years ago as it was a great way to combine the two things she loved: design and travel. It was during trips to Istanbul where she came across an abundance of 16th and 17th century Turkish textiles that the inspiration behind her own collections took seed. It wasn’t until years later in 2008 that Moreno found the final missing piece to the puzzle of her fabric dreams, as she explains, “I chanced upon some fabulous handwoven silks and felt that I could provide an additional dimension to their sophisticated technical skills.”
