UK carpet producer Rug Maker has been granted a licence by Royal Mail to use the British stamp design in a collection of new Stamp Rugs.  The carpets  come in a variety of bright colours, which relate to the hues of Royal Mail’s real stamps. The original image of the Queen’s youthful profile (which has never been updated unlike her profile on British coins) was designed by Arnold Machin in 1967 and makes for a elegant design for a floor or wall. The rugs are handwoven in Nepal and have a scalloped edged and raisied pile to mimic the embossed Queen’s head and perforated edges of postage stamps and they can be made to any size within the correct stamp proportions. These Stamp Rugs feature on the cover of the latest issue of COVER!
