Creep carpet, Nathan Yong

Nathan Yong‘s Creep carpet is a strictly black-and-white affair, yet the shapes irresistibly conjure up plant foliage gradually creeping along the floor – hence the name, of course. And the monochrome neutrality allows it to fit into any interior space. Based in Singapore, Yong has twice been recipient of the Red Dot Concept Design Award (2006 and 2007). Before going independent, he learnt a range of production techniques and crafts while travelling to India, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia to source manufacturers and craftsmen for other companies. He says of his work, ‘I like my designs to evoke a sense of wonder and bring a smile to those who observe and use them, conveying the idea that lies behind their creation.’

If his Creep carpet grows on you, it is available in four different sizes, small, medium, large and extra large.
