Introducing the new season’s shades and styles, September’s New York International Carpet Show marks ten years of increasing activity and attendance.

The New York International Carpet Show will celebrate a milestone ten-year anniversary this autumn with a larger number of exhibitors than ever before. Taking place in the Metropolitan Pavilion, 7–9 September, the event has seen a steady growth over the past few years, increasing with the market demand. It has continued to maintain its strict focus on importers’ business exchanges with designers and retailers. This will be an ideal spot to make new industry contacts, with ample opportunity for visitors to filter in from other shows in the neighbourhood.

New products, services and collections will be introduced, including one-off designs from smaller, boutique sellers such as Mia Muratori and Pacific Collection. After a few years of absence, noted Italian carpet maker Stile BK will return to the fair, along with seasonal favourites J.D. Staron Galleries, Woven Legends, Bespoke Tibetan Carpets and Creative Matters from Toronto. Award-winning companies include Amadi Carpets, Zollanvari and New Moon Rugs. Long-time exhibitor French Accents will once again sponsor the popular party for NYICS attendees at its showroom on 36 East 31st Street, on 8 September after show hours.

Previews reveal this season’s colour palette to be a variety of purples and soft blues, found in work from Amadi and newcomer Woven Concepts. More traditional shades of beige and ochre have also come back, as seen in designs from Pasargard and New Moon. Designs are either strictly abstract or geometric, with minimal use of figurative characters, examples being the collections from The New England Collection and Interior Resources from Texas.

The variety of exhibitors will certainly benefit the three-day show, encouraging customers to start their spending at the beginning of the rug-buying season.
