In 2019 we will have two stands for the first time, one in Hall 9 (Stand D16) and one in Hall 2 (Stand C62). Come and meet the team, explore our magazine and books, and find out about all of the projects we are involved in at the show.
Domotex is where the rug world comes together. The handmade halls (Halls 2-4, 8 and 9) offer a huge variety, from the latest art rugs made in Nepal to long-piled Moroccan rugs straight from the Maghreb. For returning visitors there will be plenty of familiar faces but also a selection of new exhibitors. These include independent British textile design studio Claire Gaudion and Spanish brand Rica Basagoiti. Other newcomers are British brand CHUF-CHUF CHUFTALO and Shahdad by Ashkiyoun, the latest brand from the Ashkiyoun Group, known for its Iranian fine carpets. Hossein Rezvani, Sahar and Rezas are among the exhibitors we look forward to meeting every year. After success in 2018, Canadian firm Creative Matters will host more Art Days to get the creative juices flowing. Sign up on the Domotex website for sessions on 11-14 January. Keep watching COVER on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter (@covermag2005) during Domotex for up-to-date news on the latest events and the best new rug designs being shown.

Carpet Design Awards
Once again, COVER will be involved in a number of ways at Domotex, including, of course, the Carpet Design Awards. Organised by COVER and HALI in partnership with Domotex, the awards celebrate original design and excellence in craft. COVER Editor Lucy Upward and HALI Editor Ben Evans will be involved in the judging of the Carpet Design Awards, prior to the awards ceremony in Hall 9 of Domotex Hannover at 6pm on 12 January 2019. The new look presentation on Saturday will see German TV presenter and journalist Annika De Buhr joining COVER and HALI Editors on stage to hand out the winner’s awards. Join us for the much-anticipated ceremony and refreshments afterwards.
Visitor Award 2019
As with every year, during the 4-day event visitors are invited to vote for their favourite rug from the 24 CDA finalists on show. Last year’s winner was this beautiful flatweave design ‘Zanafi’ by Bazar Du Sud. The winner will be announced on Monday 14 January when the winning company will be presented with a CDA award. We cannot wait to find out which rug will win the Visitor Award in 2019!
On Saturday 12 January at 12pm in Hall 9, Editor of COVER Lucy Upward will be delivering a talk on the subject of ‘Future thinking: Trends in rugs and interiors’. The leitmotif for Domotex Hannover 2019 is Create’n’Connect, playing on the concept of connectivity in all its forms. This theme will be apparent throughout the Framing Trends showcase in Hall 9, and also in the daily talks featuring prominent designers and architects like Katrin Greiling and Sebastian Herkner, who was interviewed in the latest issue of COVER. For her talk, Lucy Upward looks at the motivating factors behind global trends to understand where rug design might be heading. Don’t miss hearing about the latest rug trends on Saturday 12 January, 12pm.
COVER & HALI Buyers’ Tour
If you are a new buyer to Domotex, join us on the COVER & HALI Buyers’ Tour this Friday.
