Fort Street Studio opened their first ever showroom in Hong Kong in 1996. Two more located in New York and Los Angeles followed. And now the owners and creative directors Janis Provisor and Brad Davis have opened a brand new flagship store in the One Island South development, home to a burgeoning design scene.

The space was deigned by architecture firm SLINC Ltd. in conjunction with Brad Davis. Janis Provisor describes it as being “unlike anything else in the city for rugs” with a “relaxed ambience and loft-like gallery to display our designs and collection of mid-century furniture, German pottery and original art”.

The Fort Street Studio owners developed their abstract, painterly wild silk rugs while they were living in Hangzhou in the 1990s. They moved there on a whim, having found the experience of being in China infectious on their first visit in 1989. It was there that the artist couple translated their paintings into woven art for the floor. Using Dandong silk that is harvested wild from the forests of Northern China, Fort Street Studio’s luxurious rugs have found an inspiring new home in the dynamic city from which they first emerged.
