Norwegian rug brand Volver, which we profiled in COVER 52, has created a series of 13 rugs for new Norwegian design studio and furniture producer Krafted. The designs by Ksenia Stanishevski (Volver) and Lars Hole (Krafted) were inspired by the austere style of Krafted, rooted in Nordic design, but also engage with religious symbolism, asking the question: how can religions contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive world? The palette of auburn, burgundy, dark blue, bottle green and soft pastels was developed to complement Krafted’s range of furniture which takes stone, wood and glass as its materials.

Both brands share a love of natural materials and traditional craftsmanship. The rugs are hand-tufted in New Zealand wool by artisans in India.

The rug collection was displayed alongside other Krafted pieces at Vestfossen Art Laboratory in an exhibition titled ‘Nature by Krafted’, which made an appeal for conservation and sustainability, on 5-9 March 2020 and is sold online by Volver.
